Meet the Member Event Review

By September 6, 2018 September 11th, 2018 Business

This evening the Australian British Chamber of Commerce (ABCC) and the Netherlands Chamber of Commerce Australia (NCCA) combined forces to hold Meet the Member. Held at the newly opened Spaces Co-working offices in the Rialto Tower, the event encouraged networking between the Chambers. Select members of each chamber also had the opportunity to present a sixty second pitch. The members who were given the chance to pitch came from a number of industries, from tax advisory and IT to photography and furniture wholesales.

While the attendees came from a diverse range of businesses, there was a significant presence from larger firms. I was also able to talk with a number of smaller businesses, based both locally and internationally. All of the attendees I spoke with had ties to either the UK or the Netherlands in regards to business. The one thing I found quite odd was a number of people did not have business cards, some forgot them and others simply do not have a business card.

The new Spaces offices felt a lot like a library or study space from a University or Highschool. The space reminded me of my days spent studying for exams with my peers. However, the space was fantastic for a networking event. Being large enough to allow attendees to move from one conversation to another, without being so large that the space felt empty. The catering offered by ABCC, NCCA and Spaces was wonderful, catering to every preference and need. My personal favourite were the miniature burgers!

All in all the ABCC and NCCA held a great event with a wide range of fascinating conversations to be had. I would definitely attend more events from the ABCC and NCCA.
