As a part of the Small Business Festival’s Small Business Month Melbourne Business Network provided an event for women to network and come together. The event was held at The Cluster a co-working space in the Melbourne CBD.
Speakers at the event included a partner of an Accountancy practice, dietitian, jewellery designer and start up network founder. They did not have a headline speaker for the event – which I found odd given that there are so many well known female founders based in Melbourne. The discussion that the speakers had was more about gender related work issues rather than the founding and management of their businesses. Personally, given that it was the small business festival it would have been preferable if the discussion was more about their businesses.
Attendees of this event were primarily women with their own businesses. There were also some women who worked for corporate organisations who were thinking of starting up a business.
The venue and the catering was excellent and provided great scenic views of the Melbourne CBD, it was a shame that the speakers did not live up to the planning and hard work that Melbourne Business Network would have put into this event.
